Niam and Scandic are creating a new hotel concept with a sky bar and wellness in Stockholm Hamnkvarter
Niam and Scandic Hotel's joint investment project in Värtahamnen is a sizeable 14,500 square meters. The existing hotel has undergone extensive renovation and development, 40 brand new rooms have been added and today, the hotel comprises a total of 323 rooms, making it one of Scandic's largest in Stockholm.
The hotel rooms are built with inspiration from circular thinking where some of the room furnishings are environmentally certified or made from recycled material with a lifespan of up to 15 years.
Scandic Södra Kajen opens the 10th of June 2024 and some of the new features are a wellness area on the 17th floor, a gym for hotel guests and a sky bar with a spectacular view of the water. In addition, there will be a new restaurant for up to 250 guests. The lobby has also been expanded and moved to the entry level.
Niams role
Niam has owned the property where the hotel is located since 2016 and the joint hotel investment is part of the extensive urban development project that is now being carried out in Värtahamnen. Niam's lease and collaboration agreement with Scandic runs for over 20 years and underscores both Scandic's and Niam's commitment to the development of the area.
"Scandic Södra Kajen is part of the first phase of Värtahamnen's transformation. In collaboration with the City of Stockholm and various stakeholders, we are creating a vibrant urban district. Once completed, this development will include over 110,000 square meters of commercial properties, providing workplaces for 20,000 people and homes for 5,000 residents," says Ola Kolmert, Business Developer at Niam.
